Jesus is THE LORD

This post was originally written in 2009.

Jesus is THE LORD, Not A Lord

Deuteronomy 5:6-10 – “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.”
John 14:6-7 – “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one come to the Father except through Me. If you really knew Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.’”
Acts 4:12 – “let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well. This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
Lk 9:26 – “If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.”

I don’t want to make this a long drawn out study, but just give everyone a call to remember the importance of holding firm to the Lordship of Jesus. We are in a day and age of political correctness. We are taught to accept everyone’s beliefs and to not hold so dogmatically to our own.  Amongst Christians we may argue about doctrines and certain other miniscule things, but we must all hold to this truth: Jesus is THE LORD, not A lord.
The time is coming, and is already here, when we will be called “narrow-minded, hard-headed and simple” because of this TRUTH. We may all be upset with ourselves over our lack of witnessing or our inability to proclaim the gospel more, but soon you will be confronted with the most important witness opportunity of your life—to confess that Jesus is LORD and not make provision for any other “way.” Here is the question that will be asked of you: “Do you really believe that Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father? What about the people who don’t agree with you?” If you answer them and say, “well, I personally believe in Jesus as my Savior, and it’s not for me to judge other people… that’s between them and God.”  If that is your response, then you have proven that you are ashamed of Jesus Christ. The correct answer will make you persecuted. This is the correct answer: “Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. All other beliefs and religions will bring upon them the wrath of God, because they have denied His Son. Jesus is the way that God provides salvation for us. To deny Jesus is to say that you don’t appreciate God’s provision.”  That is a proper response to that question! Will that make them hate you? Definitely!
My fellow Christians, Jesus it THE way, THE truth, and THE life! If you replace the word “the” for the word “a” then you have eased the conscience of the condemned sinner, and have become ashamed of Jesus Christ.  There is only ONE WAY, and you will be hated for it. But stay firm and know that to suffer for His sake will one day turn to joy!
1 Peter 4:13-14 – “But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when His glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.”
